Tig Fabrication Welder- Direct Hire Location: SchaumburgRate: Based on Experience- Will be assessment to determine skills and credential level. Positions range from $26-30/hr. with Direct Hire BenefitsSchedule- First Shift- M-F (Very few weekends) 7:30 am - 4 pm Summary: The Welder is responsible for performing TIG welding operations and fabricating metal components in a job shop environment. They must possess strong technical skills, including the ability to read and interpret blueprints, maintain welding tolerances, and work with various metals and alloys. The Welder will work with stainless sheet metal, tubing, and other forms of stainless steel to produce precision assemblies. They are expected to adhere to safety protocols, maintain a clean work environment, and meet quality standards.Principle Accountabilities:
Welding Operations:
Read and interpret blueprints or job orders to determine specifications of the job.
Set up materials, including stainless sheet metal, tubing, and other stainless steel forms.
Perform tack or set up welds using a TIG welder.
Utilize measuring tools such as tape measures, calipers, machinist squares, protractors, and micrometers.
Verify weldments conform to drawings and specifications, making corrections when necessary.
Weld parts, components, frames, and weldments per drawings.
Ensure seamless welds by finalizing welding with a TIG welder.
Produce frames within required tolerances and squareness.
Grind and polish sharp edges on workpieces as required.
Skills and Experience:
Possess at least 5 years of experience as a TIG welder in a job shop environment.
Demonstrate expertise in welding steel or mild steel materials ranging from 1/16" up to ½".
Utilize grinders, saws, polishers, hand tools, and power tools effectively.
Ability to independently read and interpret blueprints.
Proficient in verbal and written communication in English.
Operate a bending brake press accurately.
Accurately read a tape measure.
Level and square workpieces independently.
Occasionally lift, push, pull, and carry up to 50 pounds.
Ability to bend and rotate the body repeatedly.
Physical Requirements:
Regularly stand for a minimum of 8 hours per day.
Frequently grasp, handle/feel objects, control/manage tools, and use hands/arms.
Occasionally walk, stoop, kneel, and crouch.
Occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.
Specific vision abilities required include close vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.
Safety and Compliance:
Maintain a safe and clean work environment in accordance with all quality, safety, and work regulations.
Comply with established safety procedures and use personal protective equipment as required.
Other Duties:
Perform other duties as assigned by the supervisor.
