Job Description

Work with the largest, privately held, North American supplier of Gears, Gearboxes, Shafts, and Assemblies for the Commercial, Aerospace, Defense, and Aviation industries as a direct hire CNC Machinist Milling on 2nd shift.  This year they will celebrate 76 years in business. Over that time, they have had gear products in space since 1991, the Indianapolis 500 on multiple winning teams, and current products on America's most advanced fighter jet platforms. Their 140,000 square-foot climate-controlled facility is equipped with state-of-the-art advanced cutting-edge equipment.  They pride themselves on injecting advanced manufacturing processes and vertically integrating with world-class heat treating and plating facilities.  HOURS2nd shift: 3:30pm-midnight (typically working until 1 or 2 am and 3 Saturdays per month)PAY:   $27-32/hr (depending upon experience) plus a 10% shift diff for 2nd shiftExcellent union benefits (Medical, Dental, Vision, 401 K with a match)
 Authorized to work in the United States and no sponsorships offered.  What you will do:
  • Plans machining by studying work orders, blueprints, engineering plans, quality plans, materials, specifications, OP. drawings, locations of surfaces, and machining parameters; interpreting geometric dimensions and tolerances (GD&T).
  • Sets up mills by installing and adjusting three- and four-jaw chucks, tools, and attachments.
  • Loads feed mechanism by lifting stock into position.
  • Verifies settings by measuring positions, first-run part, and sample workpieces in accordance with supplied OP—drawing and quality plan.
  • Maintains specifications by observing drilling, grooving, and cutting, including turning, facing, knurling, and thread chasing operations; taking measurements; detecting malfunctions; troubleshooting processes; adjusting and reprogramming controls; replacing worn tools; and adhering to quality assurance procedures and processes.
  • Maintains safe operations by adhering to safety procedures and regulations.
  • Maintains equipment by completing preventive maintenance requirements; following manufacturer's instructions; troubleshooting malfunctions; and calling for repairs.
  • Maintains continuity among work shifts by documenting and communicating actions, irregularities, and continuing needs.
  • Documents actions by completing production and quality logs.
Requirements:
  • Minimum of 2 years of experience operating CNC lathes and mills is required.
  • Ability to read technical mechanical drawings along with a good understanding of GD&T.
  • Ability to program CNC machine, plan and perform rough and finish milling operations such as slotting, keyway, straddle or slab milling, grooving, forming milling, gage milling, and similar milling operations on a variety of castings, forgings, and parts of various materials such as steel, cast iron, aluminum, etc.
  • Ability to do set-ups using shim blocks, wedges, parallels, and support on irregularly shaped parts to avoid springing, distortion, and breakage.
  • Calculate any off-sets as required
  • Ability to select feeds and speeds according to the type of material and finish requirements.
  • Ability to remove and replace all dull cutters.
