Food Lab Technician

Job Description

The Food Lab Technician executes corporate and plant-specific Food Safety, Quality, and Laboratory requirements. The tecnician reports to QA Manager. 
Direct-hire -Pleasant Prairie, WIShifts:  5am-5pm   Sun-Tues  OR Thurs-Sat  (every other Wednesday for either)             5pm-5am   Sun-Tues  OR Thurs-Sat  (every other Wednesday for either)Pay:   $20-24/hr   plus a $4/hr shift premium for nights Job Duties
  • Ensure all food safety and quality parameters are being adhered to and maintained throughout the facility.
  • Assist with batching chemicals/ingredients for production.
  • Calibrate lab and line equipment for accurate results.
  • Collect in-process and finished product samples.
  • Conduct standardized qualitative and quantitative testing to ensure it meets specifications.
  • Perform aseptic testing for microbial contamination.
  • Follow protocols for documenting testing results.
  • Recognize deficiencies and initiate proper follow-up.
  • Identify and isolate products that do not meet standards.
  • Aid in troubleshooting deficiencies and non-conformances.
  • Review food safety and quality records.
  • Actively participate in plant teams (HACCP, Safety, etc.)
  • Conduct other duties as assigned by management.
 Work Experience
2+ years of experience in food processing within the quality department        *experience may include a combination of work experience and education
 Competencies
  • Able to read, write, and communicate in English.
  • Able to work 12-hour shift 
  • Able to lift up to 50 lbs.
  • Able to follow GMPs
  • Able to work under pressure in a very fast-paced environment
  • Able to obtain HACCP, SQF practitioner, and IBWA certification (within 1 year).
  • Able to perform root cause analysis.
  • Able to communicate and work well with people on all levels of the organization.
  • Able to receive, analyze and report out information efficiently.
  • Knowledge of Good Laboratory Practices (GLPs) – ability to follow laboratory SOPs.
  • Knowledge of Good Documentation Practices (GDPs) - ability to keep proper records.
  • Strong computer literacy – MS applications, databases.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Strong analytical skills - ability to analyze large amounts of data and determine deficiencies.
  • Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
