Job Description

SURESTAFF is immediately hiring Grinder Operators for a well-known client in Elgin, IL. The Grinder Operator is responsible for operating automated and semi-automated production equipment to create and manufacture finished products. As well as loading materials, perform quality checks, and troubleshooting machines.

2nd shift 3:00 pm – 11:10 pm.
Overtime is available on a first come, first serve basis.  

Responsibilities of the Grinder Operator:
•    Prepare machine for production by positioning and securing dies, stops, guides, and turntables.
•    Crane operation & daily check (tumbler).
•    Quality check (measure using dial gauge).
•    Tooling change (plate, wheel, comb, in chute, out chute).
•    Lapping (L23). Coolant tanks clean up.
•    Use a hand jack and forklift.
•    Safely and effectively operates thermoforming equipment to produce quality products.
•    Reads job specifications and previous run data (if available) to determine machine adjustments and material requirements.            Ensures job is in order prior to machine set-up.
•    Performs required quality testing on products produced.
•    Performs required quality testing on products produced, i.e., burst test, drop test, water table test, etc.
•    Observes machine operation to detect piece defects or machine malfunction. Makes corrections to alleviate out of                               specification product.
•    Position will entail standing for long periods of the day and lifting 50 pounds during shift.

Required Qualifications of the Grinder Operator:
•    Previous experience in production, manufacturing, assembling, and/or machine operating.
•    Demonstrated mechanical aptitude is essential.
•    Flexibility to work overtime and extra shifts as needed.
•    Proficient in basic arithmetic.
•    Experience reading and interpreting production specifications a plus.
