Job Title: Warehouse Clerk Location: Des Plaines, IL Shift: 2nd Shift (Monday–Friday, 12:00 PM – 8:30 AM) Pay: $18/hour Job Description: We are seeking a detail-oriented Warehouse Clerk to support logistics operations in a fast-paced warehouse environment. This is a documentation-heavy, administrative role focused on managing freight records, ensuring compliance with CBP and TSA regulations, and supporting warehouse operations. The ideal candidate will be proficient in Microsoft Office, comfortable working around semi-trucks, and capable of performing clerical duties efficiently. Key Responsibilities:
Prepare and manage freight documentation, including Bills of Lading, delivery orders, shipping manifests, and import/export records.
Perform accurate data entry and inventory updates in Warehouse Management Systems and Microsoft Excel.
Maintain shipment records in compliance with CBP and TSA regulatory requirements.
Coordinate with warehouse staff to verify freight and ensure documentation aligns with physical inventory.
Apply and verify trailer seals, maintaining accurate seal logs for outbound shipments.
Communicate effectively with drivers, team members, and cross-functional departments.
Assist with scheduling, tracking, and tracing cargo shipments.
Support basic warehouse duties, including verifying counts, labeling freight, and reporting damages/discrepancies.
Maintain building security and challenge unrecognized personnel per facility protocols.
Follow all safety standards and contribute to warehouse organization.
Assist in inventory counts and bonded freight procedures as needed.
Perform other clerical duties as assigned.
Qualifications: Required:
Must be at least 18 years old.
Proficient in Microsoft Office (Excel, Outlook, Word).
Strong attention to detail and communication skills.
Comfortable working in a warehouse environment with exposure to semi-trucks and loading docks.
Able to lift up to 50 lbs occasionally.
Must pass TSA and CBP background checks.
Preferred:
High school diploma or GED.
Previous experience in logistics, warehousing, or freight forwarding.
Familiarity with bonded freight handling and regulatory documentation.
Bilingual in Spanish (a plus).
