SureStaff has an immediate need for a Direct Hire First Shift Maintenance Technician in Elgin, IL. Direct Hire with full benefits. ($68k-$83k) Candidates must be willing to learn and grow with the company. Great culture and continued growth make our client the one to join!
GENERAL SUMMARY:Conducts machine set-up, troubleshooting, repairs and preventive maintenance service. Performs mechanic skills including mechanical, electrical, pneumatic and hydraulic repairs of packaging and production machines in a cGMP environmentPRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES:All duties as assigned and the following specific activities:
  1. Provide Set up, diagnostic evaluation, and inline adjustments of liquid filling and associated equipment.
  2. Perform maintenance, service & repairs, and is responsible for performing scheduled preventive maintenance of liquid fillers, pumps, conveyors, Air compressor, and coding equipment consistent with Quality and Performance standards
  3. Working knowledge of Kiss, Epak, Oden, and Accutek liquid fillers or similar equipment Tech should also have knowledge of Kiss, and Kapsall automatic cappers.
  4. Setup and cleaning and repair of coding equipment (Videojet, U2)
  5. Must understand containers and chemicals related to the machines.
  6. Must have excellent abilities with all standard maintenance tools and shop equipment.
  7. Troubleshooting and Repair Blenders, agitators, pumps, tanks and Filling/Packaging Machines General facility maintenance including Plumbing, electrical, HVAC, and carpentry.
  8. Perform preventative maintenance of equipment to prevent unscheduled downtime and consistent performance levels (ie. tanks, air compressor, blending, HVAC, etc.)
  9. Clean and maintain video jets as required
  10. Prepare required documentation to meet cGMP requirements for equipment maintenance and Standard Operating Procedures (SOP)
  11. Where required, assist production personnel to facilitate proper cleaning of equipment by removing critical equipment components and changing parts
  12. Assist with building maintenance and repairs as required (i.e. snow removal, lighting, HVAC, plumbing, electrical, etc.)
  13. Set-up and test new or “new” used equipment (i.e. tube fillers, new lines, conveyors) Assist with the execution of IQ/OQ and Validations
  14. Contact and coordinate services with third party vendors when necessary Submit reports of department activities as reque5ted
  15. Submit reports of department activities as requested
  16. Maintain stock of supplies (i.e. tools, bits, spare parts, pump o-rings, etc.) Develop systems or modify existing systems as needed
  17. Works in accordance with all company policies and procedures
  18. Follows proper health and safety guidelines (i.e. PPE, safety regulations, etc.) Housekeeping. Maintain and keep work area according to cGMP’s
QUALIFICATIONS:Education and/or Experience:
  1. Must understand containers and chemicals related to the machines.
  2. Must have excellent abilities with all standard maintenance tools and shop equipment.
  3. 3-5 years of experience as a Maintenance tech in liquid filling manufacturing or similar experience preferred.
  4. 5 or more years’ experience in equipment repair.
  5. Mechanical Skills including: Pneumatics, Hydraulics, Pumps, Bearings, Chains and Belting, Conveying Systems, Valves and Mechanical Troubleshooting. Ability to read and use mechanical drawings.
  6. Electrical Skills including: Basic Electricity, Volt Meter and Amp Probe, AC/DC Motors and Control Systems, Basic Schematic Reading, Basic PLC Knowledge and Electrical Troubleshooting. Ability to read and use electrical and pneumatic diagrams and schematics.
  7. Machine Shop Skills including: Welding and Fabrication a plus Training:
On the job training:
  1. SDS/Hazardous Awareness
  2. cGMP
  3. Lock-out/Tag-out
  4. Appropriate SOP’s per department requirements
Reasoning Ability:
  1. Familiarity and understanding of safe mechanical practices
  2. Ability to exercise judgment to develop preventative programs, analyze and troubleshoot equipment breakdowns
WORK ENVIRONMENT:
  1. Factory setting, medium to high noise level
  2. Temperature controlled environment
  3. Regularly exposed to elements such as odor, noise, dust, chemicals
  4. Requires long periods of standing (85-100%)
  5. Ability to lift objects and containers up to 30 pounds on a daily basis
TOOLS AND EQUIPMENT:
  1. Fork Lift

  3. Hand and power tools
  4. Grinders
  5. Appropriate personnel protective equipment

Experience:
  1. Programmable logic controllers: 1 year (Preferred)
  2. Mechanical knowledge: 3-5 years (Preferred)
