Material Handler Location: Des Plaines, IL Schedule: Tuesday-Saturday, 8:00 AM - 4:30 PM Pay Rate: $17.50/hour About the Role:We are seeking a reliable Material Handler to join our team in Des Plaines! This role is essential for ensuring the accurate and efficient movement of goods within our warehouse. If you have a strong work ethic, attention to detail, and enjoy working in a team-oriented environment, we encourage you to apply.Key Responsibilities:✔ Receiving & Shipping:
Unload and load trucks and containers manually.
Verify freight against paperwork (Bills of Lading, manifests) and report discrepancies or damages.
Stage and organize freight in designated warehouse areas.
Maintain accurate records using Warehouse Management System (WMS).
Keep workspaces clean and organized (sweeping, inventory consolidation).
✔ Compliance & Quality:
Follow SOPs for handling bonded freight and security protocols.
Perform weekly bond checks (site-specific).
Assist with inventory counts and stock checks as needed.
✔ Team Support:
Collaborate with team members to meet daily operational goals.
Train new employees on warehouse procedures.
Qualifications:Required:
Must be at least 18 years old.
Ability to lift up to 50 lbs and stand/walk for long periods.
Comfort with frequent bending, twisting, and reaching.
Site-Specific: Flexibility to work adjusted hours/days if needed.
Preferred:
High school diploma or GED.
1+ year warehouse/logistics experience.
Familiarity with Bills of Lading, shipping manifests, or freight documentation.
Bilingual (Spanish) a plus (site-specific).
