Job Summary:We are seeking a reliable and detail-oriented Inspector Level 1 / Packer to join our production team in DeKalb, IL. This entry-level position is responsible for inspecting products, maintaining quality standards, and supporting the packing process. Training will be provided on 2nd shift, with transition to a 3rd shift schedule upon completion.Key Responsibilities:
Conduct thorough line inspections and accurately document results (90% of role).
Notify operators of any machine, process, or product issues.
Use the operator light button if the operator is unavailable.
Calculate the required number of boxes based on Sales Order information.
Create accurate labels for corrugated containers used in production.
Perform measurement and capability studies (CpK).
Maintain and update Production Packaging Requirements documents.
Organize and maintain department files.
Assist packing staff with scale setup and accurate box counting.
Report and help resolve product, machine, or process issues.
Work with team members to meet project and operational goals.
Complete Nonconforming Material Reports for identified issues.
Correctly use measuring tools (scale, micrometer, caliper).
Communicate all product, machine, or process developments to operators.
Provide assistance and relief coverage for other packing and inspection staff.
Assemble boxes and ensure necessary materials are available at production lines.
Adhere to all company policies, procedures, and safety requirements.
Qualifications:
High attention to detail and strong documentation skills
Basic knowledge of measuring tools (scale, micrometer, caliper)
Ability to follow procedures and work independently
Effective communication and teamwork
Willingness to work night shifts and train on a different shift
Previous manufacturing or quality inspection experience is a plus
