Our world-class operation allows us to create customizable packaging options designed to meet all your business needs. Family-owned company looking to add a Purchasing Director to the team.
The Purchasing Director will lead the Purchasing Department and will be tasked with negotiating with vendors for the purchase of materials and supplies used by the company. This role will support the tactical and strategic purchasing initiatives and will create and implement methods to ensure the inventory levels support operational requirements.
Pay up to $150K with annual bonus opportunity. (based on experience and quality of interview process)
Typical working hours of 8am-5pm
What you will do:
Oversee procurement life cycle for managed categories: purchase order, information records, change notices, performance reports, and account payables issues
Ensures uninterrupted production supply and resolves operational disputes and disruptions related to suppliers
Perform vendor and market assessments to aid in procurement strategies and operational efficiencies
Enforces vendor adherence to contracts, purchasing policies, procedures, and methods
Use ERP to reporting methods to analyze and interpret material requirements and production schedules
Assist in department projects, cost saving efforts, commercialization, and product development, and product introduction.
Negotiates with vendors for good and services, negotiating the best possible price and service guarantee
Establishes purchasing policies and ensure compliance
Develops new supply sources as needed
Stays up to date on industry happenings that affecting purchasing plans
Examines bids
Establishes account/credit and terms
Negotiates blanket purchase orders when appropriate and monitors cost during the time
Works closely with receiving department to ensure proper supplies arrived
Traces delinquent arrivals from purchase orders
Manages the purchasing department
What is required:
Bachelors in logistics, purchasing, project management or related field preferred
Manufacturing understanding- material, method, format, terminology and process.
Print and packaging understanding – material, terminology, process.
A focused eye for details and an ability to prioritize as needed.
Self-directed, dependable and results oriented
Proficient in MS Office Suite (Excel/Outlook)
Strong analytical skills - ability to analyze and interpret inventory and reporting data.
Above average written and verbal communication skills with the ability to effectively interface with all levels of internal and external personnel.
Knowledge of Microsoft Dynamics or similar application is a plus.
Experience using metrics to perform analyses
Must have a sense of urgency regarding deadlines and resolving issues.
5+ years of experience in food manufacturing environment.
Experience in the dairy industry a plus.
