Job Description: The R&D Senior Chemist is responsible for all steps of formula development from ideation to final formulation. Primary responsibilities will be the innovation of new products, customer interaction, technology transfer and cost savings. (Salary range is $85. Could go higher depending on experience) Direct Hire in Lake Forest, IL. Job Responsibilities:• Initiate, develop, and formulate innovative, mutually profitable, safe, and effective products for both CM and customers.• Manage and develop the R&D team to build SDB as a superior CM for innovation and technology. Manage multiple projects and ensure projects meet timelines, and objectives.• Work with Regulator Compliance Team• Responsible for the continued growth of sales, through new product development and customer relationships. Work directly with customers to help foster healthy relationships and growth of new business. This is a customer-facing role.• Manage and execute both cost savings and process improvement programs per FY objectives.• Provide technical support to production and process engineering to ensure smooth transfer of technology from laboratory scale to production scale. Ensure continued successful manufacture and marketing of existing products.• Participate in the hiring, retention, and motivation of competent individuals to help foster the growth development of the department.• Meet with vendors and suppliers to keep updated with the latest technology.Requirements Education and Experience:• BS or MS in Chemistry or related science degree• Experience (years and topics): 8-10 years minimum Personal Care formulation• OTC/Quasi Drug formulation experience• Technology/Software (years): o Must be familiar with all basic cosmetic lab equipment including electronic balances, viscometer, pH meter, FT-IR, and Moisture Analyzer. o Must be PC literate and literate in Excel, Word and Power point, etc. Preferred advanced knowledge of Excel.• Communication: o Must have good communication skills (both verbal and written) o Compose routine correspondence on own initiative. o Make comprehensive notes in English. o Must have ability to work well under pressure.• Physical Capabilities o Strength (lifting, dexterity, repetitive motion):â–ª Must be able to lift 30-lbs onto waist high shelves.â–ª Must be able to lift and carry a min of 25lbs. o Movement: Employee will frequently use fingers, walk and distinguish basic colors. Employee will continuously use both hands, sit for extended periods of time, and use rapid or well-developed coordination simultaneously. Employee must be able to walk or stand for extended periods of time. o Hearing: Must be able to hear and understand work direction in a loud, distracting environment o Vision: Must be able to judge distance, identify details, and view computer screen regularly.
