Position Overview: Join our team as a skilled TIG Fabrication Welder in a dynamic job shop environment! We are currently seeking experienced welders to contribute to our Operations Department. As a TIG Fabrication Welder, you'll play a crucial role in fabricating precision metal components. This is a direct-hire opportunity offering competitive rates based on experience, ranging from $26 to $30 per hour, along with an attractive benefits package. Immediate Supervisor: Manufacturing Supervisor
Location: Schaumburg
Rate: Based on Experience (Assessed to determine skills and credential level) 25-30/hr.
Status: Non-Exempt, Hourly
Shift: First Shift
Responsibilities:Safety and Compliance:
Maintain a safe and clean work environment in accordance with all quality, safety, and work regulations.
Comply with established safety procedures and use personal protective equipment as required.
Welding Operations:
Read and interpret blueprints or job orders to determine specifications of the job.
Set up materials, including stainless sheet metal, tubing, and other stainless steel forms.
Perform tack or set up welds using a TIG welder.
Utilize measuring tools such as tape measures, calipers, machinist squares, protractors, and micrometers.
Verify weldments conform to drawings and specifications, making corrections when necessary.
Weld parts, components, frames, and weldments per drawings.
Ensure seamless welds by finalizing welding with a TIG welder.
Produce frames within required tolerances and squareness.
Grind and polish sharp edges on workpieces as required.
Skills and Experience:
Minimum of 5 years of experience as a TIG welder in a job shop environment.
Expertise in welding steel or mild steel materials ranging from 1/16" up to ½".
Effective use of grinders, saws, polishers, hand tools, and power tools.
Ability to independently read and interpret blueprints.
Proficient in verbal and written communication in English.
Operation of a bending brake press accurately.
Accurate reading of a tape measure.
Independent leveling and squaring of workpieces.
Occasional lifting, pushing, pulling, and carrying up to 50 pounds.
Ability to bend and rotate the body repeatedly.
Physical Requirements:
Regularly stand for a minimum of 8 hours per day.
Frequently grasp, handle/feel objects, control/manage tools, and use hands/arms.
Occasionally walk, stoop, kneel, and crouch.
Occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.
Specific vision abilities required include close vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.
