Job Description


Career opportunities in Chicago, IL for tool and die makers to work for a Michigan-based family of automotive companies delivering operational excellence, high-quality execution, and customer service. They offer 100% vertical integration capabilities such as end-to-end engineering, manufacturing, and in-house logistics.  They manufacture propulsion-agnostic structural automotive components and assemblies around the globe.  Direct hire opportunities on day and night shifts at their union facility (over 500,000 sq ft).

Day shift:  6am-4:30pm Monday-Friday

Night shift:  6pm-4:30am Sunday-Thursday (will be required to train a few weeks on day shift)

Pay rate(s):  $34.25 per hour  (additional 75-cent shift diff for nights)


To help us drive excellence, you’ll get to:
  • Responsible for the repair and maintenance of dies to support production requirements.
  • Adhere to all safety standards/requirements of Tower International and other regulating groups.
  • Perform die repairs at the press and in the tool room.
  • Complete Preventative Maintenance activities on the dies.
  • Weld a variety of materials used in maintenance and the tool room.
  • Repair and maintain nitrogen pressure systems used in the dies.
  • Troubleshoot, repair, and maintain electrical/pneumatic systems used in the dies.
  • Operation of the overhead crane to move and stage dies.
  • Machining of materials associated with repairs and maintenance of the dies.

 

Required experience:
  • A state-issued journeyman’s card or a minimum of (2) years of verifiable experience working on metal stamping dies.
  • Strong knowledge/experience related to drawing dies and transfer die processes.
  • Experience working in the automotive stamping industry on medium to large transfer dies is desired.
  • Welding experience and the ability to operate welding, plasma cutting, and oxy-acetylene equipment. Typical welding processes include Gas Metal Arc Welding (GMAW), Gas Tungsten Arc Welding (GTAW), and Shielded Metal Arc Welding (SMAW).
  • Strong knowledge of machine set-up and operations.
  • Experience with troubleshooting and root cause analysis, to implement permanent corrective actions.
  • The night shift will be required to train on the day shift for the first few weeks.
